Interim management

Interim management for when the work is already here and the right person is not

An important project cannot wait months while you search for the right specialist. A vacant leadership role still has to be filled, and a larger change may need a competence you do not have in-house right now.

Interim management is a solution you can deploy quickly for these situations. We embed an experienced expert, or a whole expert team, for the time and capacity you need. We take responsibility, take part in decision-making and implementation, and hand the work over so the knowledge stays with you.

Embedded experts working with a company team

01 · Embedded

Embedded expert team

A more complex development often needs several competences at once: project leadership, methodology, training and IT support. They work best when they do not run on separate tracks.

In that case we give you an embedded expert team. The team stays through planning, decisions and implementation, then steps back as the internal organisation can run the work on its own.

We fit the capacity to the job: which competences you need, when, and for how long.

What we work on

  • Seeing complex developments through, for example by aligning methodology, training and IT support
  • Interim support after a larger organisational change, until the new way of working stands on its own
  • Expert capacity that can scale with the task
  • Handing knowledge to the internal team for the whole engagement

How we work

  1. Understanding the situation

We establish which skills you need, how much capacity, and for roughly how long.

  2. Embedding

Our experts work as part of the organisation and take part in decisions and delivery.

  3. Handover

As the internal team takes over, our involvement tapers off. The processes and the knowledge stay in the organisation.

02 · Roles

Interim leadership and expert roles

A key leader leaves. A project starts and you have nobody available with the right experience. Or you need a competence you would build in-house over time, but the job is already on the table.

An interim manager takes the role and the responsibility for a defined period. That can be an interim project manager, PMO lead, HR lead or another functional expert, full time or at the capacity the task requires. For that period they are accountable in the same way as an internal leader.

They bring experience from several organisations, so they can read the situation, see the risks and identify the right interventions quickly. They can give the leadership an outside view while working as part of the team.

The handover can be gradual. If an internal colleague will take the role, the interim expert can prepare and mentor them.

What we work on

  • Interim project leadership on priority projects or ones that need a specific competence
  • Interim PMO leadership and other functional leadership roles
  • Full or partial capacity, matched to what the organisation needs now
  • Outside experience and an independent leadership view
  • Knowledge transfer, and preparing an internal successor when needed

How we work

  1. Understanding the situation

We clarify the role, the competence, the capacity and the expected duration.

  2. Embedding

The interim manager joins with real responsibility and works as part of the client organisation.

  3. Handover

When the interim period ends, we hand over the role, the processes and the knowledge to the internal team or the successor.
